What’s in a face?

Posted at 8:48 pm under Geneology, Misc.

MyHeritage.com is in it’s beta testing phase. What’s this site about….a quote directly from their website:

“MyHeritage.com is one of the world’s first applications to apply the scientifically advanced technologies of face detection and recognition to family history and to consumer photos; and it’s free.”

I was intrigued immediately, when my friend Chris, bounced me a link to the site with a compilation of photos of her celebrity matches by percent based on her photo.  So of course, I immediately had to give it a go myself.   My first photo produced a 64% celebrity face match with Salma Hayek.  That made my day!

Some tips.. If you are going to give it a whirl, try uploading several different photos, each one will produce different results.  Additionally, if you upload a photo with your face at an angle, it may produce no results.

hey, that’s pretty cool! They say my closest celebrity match is Russell Crowe — I can live with that! I am also closely linked to Leonardo DiCaprio, Oliver Stone (is that a GOOD thing?), Jack Lemmon, Al Pacino and Dennis Hopper. I guess I am a LOT better looking than I give myself credit for… lolol
