No DVR girl! :(
This is going to be a long rant!
Back when Comcast first announced the introduction of their DVR option coming out, I signed up to be notified the moment it became available in our town. I was never was notified when the option became available. When I did finally realize that the option had become available, and for just 16.99 more a month I could rent a new digital cable Motorola box and record two shows while watching another with 60 hours recording time, I immediately signed up for installation. What ensued was a 10-15 minute chat session online with a Comcast customer service rep to schedule an installation time. At the end of the session I was told that they couldn’t do it because of “credit issues”. WHAT? We pay our already astronomical $134.00 bill monthly without fail! My husband called Comcast only to find that there isn’t a credit issue at all, they just want us to drive to Manchester, NH from Concord, NH to pick up our own DVR box and install it ourselves. CAN YOU BELIEVE IT? I should take time out of my busy weekend to drive down and pick up equipment myself to install, all while paying them for the service? They cannot ship it to us? They cannot coordinate bringing us the box while setting up a new customer in our area or town? How difficult is that? Well, as a result I have gone without DVR for approximately 2 years now. I could have gotten TIVO, but since we already pay Comcast so much damn money, their option was cheaper. So I’m out DVR and by my calculations Comcast is out $407.76 for being stupid! That is a large cost for stupidity, especially when you multiply it by many customers probably feeling the same frustration as me.Â
On tv tonight, it is like a television trifecta:Â Â
1. RED SOX vs. the YANKEES game.
2. The season finale of LOST.
3. TAYLOR HICKS winning AMERICAN IDOL.Â
What’s a no DVR girl to do? It is my own fault for not remedying this situation earlier. It has already cost me the last 5 episodes of Desperate Housewives, the series finale of Will and Grace, and the season finale of The Office.Â
Oh well..there is always BitTorrent!
