If I had a week left to live…

…I would go to Rome.
I’ve traveled quite a bit in my life. I still have many places that I’d like to see, however, at this point I can honestly say, that of the many places I’ve traveled, they all pale in comparison to Rome.Â
I wanted to visit Rome, but no more than I wanted to visit anyplace else in Europe. No more than I wanted to visit Paris or London.
In Europe, the bigger cities I’ve visited to-date, have included London, Paris, Venice, Florence, Munich, Salzburg, and Nuremburg. I thought no city could top London or Paris in my estimation, then I went to Rome…Â
When I first stepped into the Coliseum I was immediately transported to some other place in time. The same can be said of touring the Roman Forum.Â
I felt something inexplicable, some feeling or connection to the past.
I would spend my last days touring the Coliseum, the Roman Forum, the Vatican, and climbing the Vittorio Emanuele II Monument Sculpture (the Wedding Cake building).Â
There are over 900 churches in Rome. From the top of Vittorio Emanuele II Monument Sculpture, all you can see is domes everywhere you look. I was completely awe-inspired, looking at countless monuments, cathedrals, priceless works of art, Egyptian Porphyry and Obelisks at every turn.
My last meal would be Sicilian pizza from Pizzeria “IL Veliero” Sicilia on V.E. Filiberto. By far the greatest Pizza I’ve ever tasted.  To our dismay, my husband and I discovered this place a couple days into our trip to Rome, based on referral from another couple we met in Rome from Vancouver B.C. - Ken and Rena. The moment we took our first bite of Pizza, we both looked at each other and were immediately scared at the prospect of never having this Pizza again. We did our best to get it out of system, we ate there several more times, and conveniently it was located a few doors down from our hotel.  My husband tried to persuade the owner to leave Rome and move to New Hampshire and open up a pizza place, he just laughed at us.Â
I would wrap up every day by spending my evenings eating gelato and staring at the Trevi Fountain. To the left is the sculpture Spirited Horse (my husband says that it’s my sculpture), there is a mirror sculpture on the opposite side of fontana di trevi called placid horse.
