Pirates - Dead Man’s Chest opened to the tune of 55 million on Friday, July 7th.   If you haven’t seen it yet, don’t read this!  To put it simply, it rocked! Rarely is a sequel better than the original. This movie blew the first Pirates out of the water! 

Bill Nighy, as Davy Jones the villian in this film, deserves an oscar for enduring the costume, mask, and make-up he had to adorn.  You may remember him as the drugged out rock star in Love Actually.  In Love Actually he has one of the most memorable lines in a movie - “Kids don’t buy drugs, become a rock star and they give them to you for free!”  It still makes me laugh every time I hear it.  It was fascinating to watch him in Pirates. I was fixated on his costume and facial movements - Disney magic at its best.

The only complaint I have, was having to listen to my husband groan throughout the movie every time Keira Knightly came on the screen.  So what if I was quietly lusting after Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow, it still doesn’t mean I have to like my husband lusting after Keira!  Yes, there is something extremely magnetic about a bad boy pirate.

Pirates of the Caribbean is one of my favorite rides at the Magic Kindom.  I was disappointed that it was closed for remodeling when I was at Disney World in April.  Of course, non-coincidently, the remodeled version of Pirates opened on Friday as well.
