How To Be A Yankees Fan

Posted at 8:42 pm under Workflow

I move along in my little workflow world and assume that my friends and collegues know what I’m talking about as I speak of Workflow issues and concerns - yet I still often get asked “What is Workflow?”

An excerpt from a definition of Workflow taken from wikipedia.org

Workflow at its simplest is the movement of documents and/or tasks through a work process.”

That is the basic concept.

Specifically, I use a piece of software named Workflow, made by Sungard, that automates business process maps and activity models using the concepts of UML (Unified Modeling Language)

Some basic Workflow components:

Still confused?  Perhaps if I apply it to something you’ll understand.

Check out my basic workflow model on:

How to be a Yankees Fan

This model was inspired by a process map I found on BC Eagles football website on:

How to be a Notre Dame Fan

  1. [...] My wife has written a blog posting entitled “How To Be A Yankees Fan“… and she has produced a ‘workflow’ model by the same title… but the truth of the matter is that the blog and workflow model provide insight into ‘why’ someone became a Yankees fan, not ‘how to’ become one… and therefore it provides us greater insight into the core reasons why Yankees fans suck so much! I wasn’t going to approve the comment above, then I thought, it just provides further proof of what idiots NY Yankees fans are!

p.s. What school did you attend? They should have their accreditation revoked! Do yourself a favor and go get edumakated!!!!

Hey close-minded person…. You can’t judge a whole town by the actions of one. There are millions of Yankees fans… Gee, doesn’t that mean they’re AWESOME!

Well I guess I’ve been accused of generalizing an entire fan group as being idiots based on one poorly constructed lewd comment left on my blog. I digress.

Silly Yankee Fan, perhaps you’ve taken my workflow example a little to literally and have not recognized the obvious satire involved in creating it. Perhaps your not able to recognize good humor. I would also say that the Red Sox / Yankees rivalry is the best in professional sports!

So your assessment is that millions of fans equates to awesomeness. And I believe that the illiterate goyanks02 fan above was trying to make a point that NY Yankees fans are more widespread than just NY, and exist in NJ and Connecticut as well.

So based on those two points above, let me point out that Red Sox fans cover the entire New England area, that’s six states! Additionally Boston is the biggest college town in the US, and most students who go to college in the Boston area become Red Sox Fans by virtue of proximity. The Red Sox are the only MLB team in New England, and in NY there is also the NY Mets.

Therefore, by simple mathematics, I would estimate that there are several more million Red Sox fans nationwide, than Yankees Fans. Based on your reasoning then, that would make the RED SOX MORE AWESOME THAN THE YANKEES!!!

ps. don’t try to engage in a battle of wits if you are completely unarmed!

So you think MandyMag ‘judged a whole City by the actions of one’? How about one MILLION? Yankees fans, generally, are notorious for being loud, obnoxious blowhards… you are unable to recognize the limitations of your team so you are surprised when you don’t win the world series every year — as if the largest payroll MUST equate to the most wins… your pitching staff is old and therefore will be injury-prone — yet you are shocked when they get injured… for Pete’s sake, in the last few years you guys have mercilessly booed Derek Jeter and Alex Rodriguez — two of the greatest players of this - or ANY - generation… if it were true that ‘people get what they deserve’, then Yankees fans wouldn’t celebrate another championship until this entire generation is consumed by dust — because you have demonstrated yourselves as being gluttonous and intolerant… I respect the team (I mean, how can you hate Jeter or Rivera), but have little tolerance for the team’s fans… you’re all a bunch of un-edumacated, insufferable loud-mouths…

Well Done except you forgot how Yankee fans bring up the past whenever the Yankees lose, or things are going bad
